Within the Disera project, EKE Bitola held a workshop dedicated to media literacy for the elderly.

The workshops was held in cooperation with the Bitola pensioners' association.

The goal of these workshops was to educate participants on the importance of media literacy through exercises and concrete examples.

At the workshops, the participants had the opportunity to learn how to distinguish reliable information from fake news on the Internet. Through activities and discussions, key features of media literacy such as critical thinking, checking sources and understanding the different types of fraud that can affect them were highlighted.

Participants were also introduced to the most common types of online fraud such as phishing, identity theft and many others that can put their personal and financial information at risk. We also focused on practical techniques and tools that older people can use to protect themselves from these risks.

The workshop ended with an active discussion and exchange of experiences between the participants, where the participants learned about media literacy, and became more careful about protecting their online security. This type of education is key to protecting against online scams and protecting their identity.

The workshops were part of the Disera project, which is funded by the European Commission, within the Erasmus+ program.
